Goodness.

It's been a while since I posted... It seems like we have just been plain busy (aren't we all?). Let's see. What has been keeping us so busy?

1. We put our house on the market as of Friday, so it's taken about all of my energy to get the accumulation of 5 years of junk out of my house and into storage. We do love our house and all of the work that we have put into it, but the layout isn't great for little kids, and we feel the need to get out of the city and onto some "land". We'll see what the next few months bring... We've spent a TON of time looking into properties in the area and have even started looking at both houses and buildable land.

2. All 3 of us caught a cold/ cough that for one of us (luckily, Ben) was short lived - probably thanks to the 5 days of antibiotics that he got as a "here take this Rx and get that screaming (but adorable) child out of my office" gift. My cough has lingered on and on and has now morphed into a sinus-y allergy-y thing with lots of sneezing and ear itching.
3. I left my cell phone in the pocket of my pants and sent it all of the way through a washer load. I dried it out for a few days and it seemed to make a near-comeback, but, alas, the numbers 2,5 and 0 would not work, so no dialing out for me. I spent 1.5 hours in the cell phone store and walked out with a flip, keyboard phone to make texting easier... Oh, wait, I don't really text. But I think I will start now.
4. Ben is an enormous sponge. He amazes us everyday with what new things he has picked up... His favorite phrases right now are: "Ben do it" and "Mama, come here!" He is quite polite and says "Thank you" a lot. He also has a cute little sense of humor - for a while there now he went thru a 'say the opposite' stage: Looking at a picture: I say "sun". He says "moon". Sun. Moon. Sun. Moon. Repeat. You get the picture...
5. Pregnancy-wise: I am feeling pretty good lately - lots of kicking - which helps me remember I'm pregnant! Slight heartburn at night, and the cough sure wasn't fun when my stomach muscles aren't quite where they are supposed to be, but really, I can't complain - I've had it pretty easy.
We got him a little big-wheel for Easter. His poor little legs won't let his feet reach the pedals. So he has learned to scoot - Fred Flintstone style - around the driveway/ sidewalk. Very cute. very 'big boy'.
I have been VERY neglectful in taking pictures and video of Ben this past month (see above list), so I snapped a few today in the yard.

We're planning on a picnic lunch at a nearby state park tomorrow for Mother's Day. Hope to get some more pictures there and to relax and enjoy some family time.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

It's a ......

First - you have to see the pictures of this 'cute as pie' little one... Look at that adorable little foot!
Awww, mom - no more pictures - enough already!
Uh, I'm kinda smushed in here...

Blowing kisses at 21 weeks old?

Look at that little heart beating...

Isn't technology amazing?

OK - Now that I've bragged him up enough, I guess I'll reveal that we are having a

BOY!!!!

We are so excited! All the parts looked like they were supposed to, and it appears that all is well! He was moving around a bunch this morning before the ultrasound and continued his flurry of activity right through the whole procedure. The technician even said "Can you ask him to sit still for a second - I can't measure his leg..." Ha-ha. He was sure squirming around the whole time. Too fun and a nice reality check - Oh yeah, there really is a baby growing inside me...

200th post! Big News!

Ben's gonna be a BIG Brother!

(or Big "rother" as the picture shows - I could not get him to sit still for 2 seconds to snap a quick picture)

I'm pretty sure that anyone that reads this blog already knows this, but - there it is - we are having another baby! My official due date is Sept. 3rd (conveniently - on LABOR day weekend... ha-ha). I'm almost to 20 weeks (half way there!), so the nausea part is pretty much over. I have been starting to feel some baby movement in the last few weeks. I'm really starting to show at this point - where people can (fairly) confidently ask "Are you expecting?" We are so excited to meet this little person and to give Ben (in Danielle's words) "the greatest gift you can give your child - a sibling"... :)

I've been inching closer and closer to the 200th post and was hoping to time it with the announcement of the gender of our baby, but alas, that will be another week and a half (ultrasound scheduled on April 23rd). We can't wait! The planner in me is dying to know - do I need to start shopping for girl clothes? Originally, I was leaning towards boy, but lately, I'm leaning much more towards this being a girl... Who knows?? Any other inklings out there?

In Ben news - let's see - some things of note:
Spring Break - new phrase "I'll get it!" referring to any type of ball thrown out of reach and he knows that in order to open a package that you will need a "Sciss-aaa" - and what drawer to find them in...

Lately - really starting to put together longer strings of words - Dadda sit down riiii heee-ah.
His memory is incredible - He can still recall who sat where when Andy's fam was over 2 weeks ago - He keeps pointing to Adam's chair - saying "Adam" and making giggling sounds... If Andy and I are talking (thinking Ben's not listening) and I say Rhonda - Ben starts in with everyone else's name, too - Ronna - A-dam - gaa-maa, papa Doug - aaaron.

Or if we are reading a book and there's a airplane - gaa-maa - gam-pa - referring to my parents leaving after Spring Break to fly back to MN...

Oh and yesterday during dinner - Andy was trying to coach Ben in getting the last bit of yogurt (yo-guck) out of his bowl.
Andy: "Ben, just scrape the spoon on the bottom".
Ben: (innocently) takes his spoon and sticks it (where else) but on HIS bottom.
Still makes me laugh out loud.

Video (and Audio) Extravaganza

Here are a few clips of Ben singing his favorite tunes of the week:

First, "Pop go weee-sel"

Next, Camptown Races (featuring daddy C)

And finally, a medley of: Pop goes the weasel, Camptown Races and a little Old McDonald (e-i-e-i - with some pig snorting).

And a clip of our 'One little monkey jumping on the couch'

Also, some egg hunting footage - We have one of those eggs that you turn on and hide, and it keeps talking to you until you find it... Lots of fun!

We had a nice celebration of Andy's birthday and Easter get-together this weekend - now we have much too much yummy food left over (caramel brownies, Andy's dessert, jellybeans, angel food cake, and a bunch of chocolate - Yikes!).

Spring Break with Grandma and Grandpa

My folks were here for a week over my Spring Break. It was great. I got to run a ton of errands while they stayed home with Ben: doctor's appointment, haircut, Target (twice), grocery store, got a hitch put on my new car, Joanne's, Home Depot, and Kohl's - all with taking just my wallet. No sippy cups, no diaper bag, no dealing with loading and unloading... It's amzing what you can really get done when you are kid-less for a few trips...

Anyway, grandma and grandpa had lots of fun playing with Ben - taking him to the park and for walks around the neighborhood and playing with his na-mower and bike in the driveway. We did make a stop for ice cream at DQ one night - Ben got to share with grandpa.
He also liked cutting his new wooden fruit with a knife.

We got to decorate Easter cookies, too!

We even made it to the beach on Saturday. We got there, had a nice picnic lunch, and wandered around Boiler Bay.
The hit of the day: a feather...
Ben (or should I say daddy and grandpa) had fun playing in the sand...
OK - Ben played, too...
And pushed his wagon around forever. (Yaquina Head lighthouse in the background)
We got some kite-flying in, too.

All in all a great Spring Break. A lot (mysteriously) got done around the house, too: finally painting the stairway/ landing (thanks, dad), scrubing Ben's poor stroller (thanks grandma), and most of the rest of the power washing of the house (yeah, daddy!). I got a chance to sort through all of Ben's clothes and put them in nice labeled (with my Christmas gift label-maker) plastic bins. Thanks for visiting, grandma and grandpa! We ALL had a wonderful time!

Future MVP?

T-Ball here I come. I can put the ball on the T...
I just need a bit of work on my swing... a bit low this time.
There - that's better!

I can even "catch" and

and I have a wicked arm!

Or maybe I'll be a groundskeeper?

Either way, my mommy and daddy will still love me (because I am TOO cute not to love)!

Ben 'counting' to 8:

And doing the (Ben version of the) ABC's:
